Dangers of drugs and alcohol

Enjoying a cold beer on a hot day or having a few glasses of chardonnay with friends at an event or festival is many people’s idea of a great time when you are drinking responsibly.

While drugs may seem a fun option for festivals, it is never safe to take illicit drugs. However, if you or a friend decide to take drugs it is important to take measures to minimise the harm.

Always be honest with your friends about what you are taking so that if you become unwell, they can take you to the medical tent and help the ambulance personnel treat you. Remember, they can’t help you properly if they don’t know what you have taken – being upfront and honest may save your life.

The information you provide to medical professionals is confidential. Medical staff will not call the police unless there is a threat of physical harm to them or yourself.
