Signs and symptoms of stingray and stonefish stings

Stingray stings typically cause intense, immediate pain, swelling, bleeding, and muscle cramps. The wound might appear punctured and could potentially lead to bacterial infection. Stonefish stings often result in excruciating pain, swelling, and potentially necrosis. 
 

Additional symptoms may include: 

  • Nausea and vomiting: Nausea and vomiting may occur, especially in severe cases. 
  • Redness: The skin around the sting site may become red and inflamed. 
  • Numbness and tingling: Numbness and tingling may occur in the affected area.
