Signs and symptoms of anxiety

Anxiety can manifest itself in a range of mental and physical symptoms. You may feel constantly nervous or worried, even if you can’t identify why. You may find it difficult to focus on your work or may even have a sense of impending disaster.

Physically, you may have a higher-than-normal heart rate and a feeling of tightness in your chest or experience trembling that you can’t control.

Other physical symptoms include:

  • Rapid breathing
  • Sweating
  • Feeling tired
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Headaches
  • Gastrointestinal issues
