Topic 3
First aid for overdose and intoxication
If you know or suspect someone is severely intoxicated or suffering from a drug overdose, seek medical help immediately.
If the person is awake, keep them calm and ask them how much they have had to drink or if they have taken any drugs. Take note of their current symptoms.
If they are able to walk, help them to a paramedic tent or safe zone as quickly as possible. When you get there, provide as much detail to the medical personnel as possible about how many drinks the person has had or what drugs they have consumed. Also, let the medical officers know if you have seen an improvement or worsening in the person’s symptoms.
Please note: the information provided to the medical staff is confidential. Police will not be contacted unless there is a threat to the medical officer’s safety or your life.
