Placing a person in the recovery position

If you find a person unconscious at a festival, place them in the recovery position and monitor their breathing carefully. Ask someone to go and get help while you stay with them until a medical officer or an ambulance arrives.

How to place someone in the recovery position:

1. Lay them on their back, and place the nearest arm across the chest and the furthest arm at a right angle.
2. Bend the knee closest to you and support their head and neck to begin the roll.
3. Roll them gently away from you so they are on their side.
4. Tilt their head back to open the airway and place their hand underneath their mouth to guide any potential vomit.

If the person vomits, let the medical officers know when they arrive as they might want to take a sample. While this sounds a little yucky, this is so the medical officers can test it to find out what the person has consumed, especially if they are unconscious and unable to provide that information themselves.
