Signs and symptoms of strains and sprains
The signs and symptoms of strains and sprains are similar. You may experience pain around the site of the strain or sprain, bruising, or loss of mobility.
It’s important to know that if the affected area looks deformed or has an abnormal bump, or if you can’t move it or put weight on it, you may have sustained a fracture. If this is the case, it’s important to seek medical help.
Other physical symptoms of strains and sprains include:
- Tenderness around the affected area
- Swelling
- Muscle spasms (this applies to a strain rather than a sprain)
