Topic 2
Signs and symptoms of dehydration
Feeling thirsty is the first sign of dehydration. Another early sign is dark-coloured urine as your body tries to increase water intake and decrease water loss.
Another quick hydration test is to pinch an area of your skin such as the back of your hand. If the skin remains lifted and appears loose instead of returning to normal, this is a sign that you may be dehydrated.

Other physical symptoms of dehydration include:
- Bright red skin
- Sunken eyes
- Dry mouth or eyes
- Headache
- Muscle cramps
In more severe cases of dehydration, you may develop non-physical symptoms.
These can include:
- Confusion
- Memory loss
- Irritable
- Anxiety
