Topic 2

(D) Danger

Danger DRSABCD

Assess the situation to identify potential dangers to yourself and others.

Dangers you may encounter include:

  • Other traffic
  • Fire, smoke, or fumes
  • Damaged vehicles
  • Spilled fuel or chemicals
  • Fallen or damaged overhead power lines and high-voltage electricity
  • Unstable structures
  • Distraught or potentially violent people

Ensure safety for everyone involved, including bystanders.

To warn other cars of the accident, park any car at a suitable distance from the crash and put the hazard lights on. If at night, put on the headlights to illuminate the accident. Have a bystander warn and control oncoming vehicles if it is safe to do so.
