What are the dangers of falling at the office?

Slips, trips and falls are all relatively normal occurrences in an office environment. Even if your workplace is generally safe, there’s still the potential for injury. In fact, according to the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, 31 per cent of hospitalisations are caused by slipping, tripping or stumbling on the same level.

Falling may lead to various issues, such as broken bones, dislocated shoulders or head injuries. It could be something as minor as bruising and discomfort or require medical assistance. While it’s not always possible to avoid a fall, you should learn how to respond best.

Possible causes for injury include:

  • Falling on a slippery walkway
  • Running into another person by accident
  • Tripping on a stairwell
